Which way are the splinters?

I came across this Irish blessing the other day...

As you slide down the banisters of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way.

I thought it was brilliant and it made me think...what can we do to sand out the splinters in our future?  Is there any way to future proof ourselves?

We can plan and we can try and control everything around us but take it from me, control is exhausting.  We expend so much energy, there is very little left for actually living our lives.  This leads pretty quickly to overwhelm and misery as it just does not work.

When I am being my best self, I am in flow.  I let go of the things I cannot control and yet everything seems to work out better, the Universe is on my side.  I love to be on time!  Five minutes early for me usually feels late...however, when I let go and trust, I am always right on time.  I have taken to doing the things I need to do before I leave the house, without looking too closely at the clock.  When I do this, I get everything done, the traffic works out and I arrive where I am going at the time I need to be there.  

The alternative is not as much fun...I stress about the things I need to do, rush through them with very little concentration so they usually take longer and then panic about leaving the house.  When I arrive where I am going, I am frazzled and tired.

 So what can you do to help yourself smooth out those splinters and go with the flow?

Ask yourself what might stress me out today?

How would the best version of myself respond to that stress?

When we spend a few minutes asking ourselves these questions in the morning, we can preempt the overwhelm that may happen.
