Are you feeling out of sync with your life?

 

There is so much going on at the moment in the world it is hard not to be led off track by your thoughts, emotions and just the circumstances of your life.

There are things I usually do this time of year that are just not happening and I find it really disconcerting that I can't make any particular plans to do things in the future.  Instead of dwelling on this, I have used the time to put together some good habits for my life. I am eating better, exercising properly every day (not just wandering slowly around the roads with Flapjack as he sniffs at all the lamp posts and gate posts (his way of skimming through Facebook and yes, it can take forever!).  I am also practicing qigong every day (I am on day 93 of a plan to get to 100 days in a row) and using my own coaching program to get myself moving.

Our biggest regrets in life usually happen when we feel like we did not behave or react as our best selves. I had an experience of this on Monday when I visited my mother. She gets confused and has a couple of particular trains of thought that really trigger me. She started on one of them and I immediately cut her off and told her not to go down that path. It was what I needed to say but I felt bad afterwards. I told myself, I should have been kinder, I should have been more patient...basically I "should" all over myself! It was all perception though as she actually thanked me later when we talked on the phone for straightening out her thinking. So I was close to my best self but not quite there!
